Betrayed

If you enjoy reading mystery or suspense, then Betrayed by Lillian Duncan is a book you will enjoy. With characters you bond with from the beginning, you will find the twists and turns of this book will keep you reading to find out what happens to them.

The setting is a small town in mid-America with citizens who live quiet, uncomplicated lives. In the witness protection program after her husband tries to kill her and kidnap their daughter, Maria finds safety and happiness running a flower shop under the name of Veronica Minor, and all goes well until a young friend of Jasmine’s is kidnapped. Maria wants to help find the girl until she and Jasmine are suddenly forced into the limelight during a newscast. Fearing she will be discovered, Maria flees. When she receives a phone call from her supposedly dead husband, she realizes the FBI lied to her and he is determined to get his daughter away from Maria.

As Maria runs away, suspicion for the kidnapping falls on her shoulders as well as the murder of the reporter who reveals Maria’s identity as a suspect in the disappearance of the little girl. Maria doesn’t know who to trust, but her faith in God and prayer brings her back to town where she places her life and that of her daughter in the hands of the Sunberry, Ohio police department. Will they save her, or is she now in even more danger?

Back Cover Blurb:

Witness Protection Program claims they can keep anyone safe if only they follow the rules so Maria follows the rules--every rule. She's given up everything--her friends, her family, her past, even her name to ensure her daughter has a future.
Reborn as Veronica Minor in the sleepy little town of Sunberry, Ohio, she struggles to rebuild their life amid the beauty of her flower shop. A life where her daughter can have a happy normal childhood. A life where her daughter will never know that her father was a monster.
When a child disappears, Veronica prays it has nothing to do with her past, but what if she's wrong? Not knowing who to trust, she trusts no one...and that's her first mistake.
